“Gail Woodard’s Writer’s Sprint group is such a great way to get writers writing! Gail helped me implement the old fashioned “BIC” method that is so necessary for someone like me. That is “butt in chair”. Her schedule gets me to do that several times a week, therefore getting some writing accomplished. Thank you for that!

What is Writer’s Sprint?

Writer’s Sprint is an online implementation session for writers like you. Meetings happen twice weekly over Zoom (a free online platform for video calls). Each 90-minute session includes encouragement, creativity boosters, an extended writing session for you to work on YOUR project and, on Thursdays, a 15-minute open Q&A session with Gail Woodard, author and publisher at Dudley Court Press.

In Writer’s Sprint you’ll get…

  • Inspiration to make progress on your writing project
  • Accountability to a group of writers who are eager for your success
  • Group energy to uplevel your output and creativity
  • Amplified commitment to yourself to work on your writing project
  • Access to Gail Woodard, author and publisher, to ask questions about writing, publishing or marketing your book

I’m so happy that I signed up for Gail’s Writers Sprint! I hoped these 6 sessions would cure my case of ambivalence about writing projects that were on my mind and heart. Was I writing a book? Or two? And if so, what was the format? Well, the space plus Gail’s encouragement to simply explore led to an unexpected solution about the nature of the book. And the clarity makes the project fun instead of some kind of obligation. I never would have gotten to this point without that commitment—so thank you, Gail!”

Dear Gail, I can only speak for myself when I say that spending a couple hours twice a week in the energy field of yourself and other people devoted to writing has been key to helping me establish a writing habit. Knowing there are people also writing in the same (virtual ) space holds me accountable when, left to my own devices, I would be getting up many times to get a glass of water, let the dog out, let the dog in, grab the mail while I am at it, and check my email just because I need to ‘get back to the keyboard’.  Thank you. I especially appreciated that little time was spent with ‘warm-up conversations’, and that you were careful about setting the timer. It helps whenever there are things we can trust not to change in a world that changes every moment.

Gail will be writing along with you. She is working on two books – Deliberate Joy and Half a Bandana Will Do: Stories from the Camino

“I love leading Writer’s Sprint. In these online writing sessions, the energy is palpable and everyone who participates gets more done than they expected. We’re starting the next program on January 12th. Join me and let’s get lots of writing done!”

What a gift!

Dear Gail, I just want to thank you again for this invaluable opportunity you have given us to write with you. It is truly an honor. Seeing you and the other authors inspire and motivate me in ways I never imagined. Looking at your lovely face and those of my fellow writers, struggling to create and refine their vision serves to make me feel less isolated and alone on my journey. I KNOW that no matter what other distractions are around, I have made a commitment to myself and you to dedicate at least a good 8 hours to get this book finished! What a gift! I wish I had the self-discipline to do this every day but, being a third child, I know that I do better in a group which someone else leads. I can’t wait to see you all this evening! Gratefully, Judy

The Writer’s Sprints have been fantastic. I was hoping it would be different from some other in person writers’ groups I have attended. Other groups have felt like the majority of time was spent on warm up writing exercises or sharing about the creative process. While the community and inspiration of these groups was helpful, they really didn’t help me put pen to paper or fingers to keys as much as needed. I was looking forward to an online community that offered connection, sharing and accountability to writing projects. I wanted a space that would inspire me to keep butt to chair and stay focused on writing. While there are brief introductions and some sharing at the end of the two-hour sessions, it doesn’t become the focus of the time and that is something that has been different and made the sprints productive for me. Gail’s Writer’s Sprints while providing community and connection also allow significant time for actually writing! I have attended all the morning and evening sessions for the month of April and the end result is that my rough draft for my book is done. By focusing on a chapter each session, I was able to keep moving through my outline.
