Author Jerry McLaughlin received these heartfelt words of thanks from WWII veteran Ray Geddess after sending Ray a copy of his new book, B17 Flying Fortress Restoration:
“The world is filled with nothing but bad news these days, terrorists, people killing cops, presidential politics. It’s never been this bad. I was really feeling down. Then your book arrived. A good story, about good people, with a good conclusion – and it was filled with references to honor and respect. I’m a new man. Thank you.” – Ray Geddess: teenage paratrooper in Normandy on D-Day, 101st Airborne Division.
We were honored to attend the book launch for B17 Flying Fortress Restoration last week in Savannah, GA at the historic American Legion Hall on Bull Street, in the room where the Mighty Eighth Air Force was born. The event featured remarks by Paul Grassey, the last of the WWII veterans who worked on the restoration of the B17 City of Savannah. Many of the other volunteers attended the event, which was covered by the local news channel, WTOC.
